About the Iconic Tower

The Iconic Tower is a project currently under-construction located in the Central Business District (CBD) in the New Administrative Capital. It is about 10 minutes away by car from the Regional Ring Road and the Cairo-Suez Road, and located near the most prominent landmarks in the capital, such as the Green River Park.

It is named the Iconic Tower because it will become an architectural icon in Egypt, one of the distinctive landmarks in modern history, and will also be the tallest tower in Egypt & Africa. It will bring pride to Egypt as it will highlight its engineering achievements and will attract many visitors worldwide who would want to come and see this architectural masterpiece.

This tower, which is one of the twenty towers being built in the CBD, is being implemented by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), one of the most famous international companies in the field of construction and contracting, in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities and with the help of many Egyptian workers and engineers. It is worth noting that this tower is being accomplished at a cost of 3 billion dollars.

In regards to the tower’s design, it will mimic the shape of a pharaonic obelisk, which is considered a symbol of the ancient Egyptian civilization, and the tower’s façade will be similar to the design of the lotus flower, a unique icon during the Pharaonic era that symbolizes preserving the environment. In addition, the channels connecting the corners of the project with the earth’s surface are like the veins of the Nile River. And let’s not forget that the design will reflect Art Deco - an ancient French art - through the presence of air vents that will rotate according to the direction of the sun, which will help in reducing temperature.

Tower’s Structure & Available Services

The Iconic Tower is considered the tallest tower in Egypt and will surpass the Cairo Tower. It is also expected to be the tallest tower in Africa, with a height of 385 meters, which is about half the height of Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest tower. It is worth noting that the Iconic Tower will be a great splendor in the world of skyscrapers due to its high altitude.

The total area of the tower will reach 7.1 million meters, consisting of around 79 floors on an area of 240,000 meters. It will include administrative units for the world’s major companies, with areas starting from 40 square meters, in addition to residential units starting from 50 square meters, and commercial units starting from 38 square meters.

In addition, it will include a new headquarters for the Central Bank of Egypt, Egypt’s Stock Exchange, and the Central Press. It will also contain high-speed elevators, swimming pools, children's playgrounds, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, theaters, and a helipad.

Stages of Construction

The foundation stone of the Iconic Tower was laid in February 2019, using the best building materials, such as steel and concrete, which adhere to the latest international quality and safety standards, and can withstand natural phenomena such as earthquakes. In June 2021, all structural concrete work was completed.

It is worth noting that so far, about 74 floors with a height of 360 meters have been completed, which represents around 95% of the tower’s construction. The tower is expected to be fully completed during 2023.
